The Fulbright Program is the oldest and the most famous in the world among scientific exchange programs of the United States . It operates from 1946, now in 155 countries. Under the Program in Ukraine in 1992 nearly 700 scientists and students from Ukraine visited the United States by winning grants. The coordinator of program “Fulbright Scholars for studying in the universities of the USA ” Inna Barysh presented the terms of participation in programs Fulbright Scholar Program, Fulbright Faculty Development Program and the Fulbright Graduate Student Program.
Fulbright Scholar Program is a program of grants for international educational exchange in the United States for a period of four to nine months. In addition to the humanitarian and social sciences the Fulbright Scholar Program has been expanded to include science, technology and engineering fields.
Requirements:
- Ukrainian citizenship and residence in Ukraine during the competition
- High proficiency in written and oral English.

Last year one of the grant-winners of this program was the Director of the Center for International Cooperation of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Tetiana Stepykina. While sharing her experience of participation in Fulbright Scholar Program she mentioned that this program is unique because besides such opportunities as staying in the United States for 4- 9 months and doing research, it also gives a chance to be involved into self-organization just because you set a goal for yourself and organize the work that needs to be done for achieving this goal. "Among 6 trips abroad this was the most impressive one. The most important thing in this program is the uniqueness of your project”, said Tetiana.
Fulbright Faculty Development Program is a program for young scientists under 35 years old and experts with at least two years full or part-time teaching experience. By winning grant of this program, post-graduate student of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko University Pavlo Shopin is doing his research work in the University of California.
Fulbright Graduate Student Program is a Master's Degree program for 1-2 years at the University of the United States. Senior students, university graduates, postgraduates may be involved in the competition.
Not only students but also graduate students, teachers and those who have already graduated from high school have a chance to go studying to the U.S. In addition this year program includes exact and natural science. Everyone who wants to study can choose a program that is the most interesting and useful for him. The only thing that is needed from you is self-confidence and your ability, perseverance and willingness to work. Don't lose your chance!

From February 11th till February 15th Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was invited to Council of National Representatives (CNR) of the European student organization Erasmus Student Network (ESN) in Warsaw . As representatives from university on council there was a student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages Kornieieva Ilona and the Director of the Center for International Cooperation Stepykina Tatyana Vladimirovna.
Performance at conference in Warsaw was a big responsibility for everyone. It was especially important for us since Luhansk National University stands a high chance to enter this organization. Therefore, for us it was a point of honor to show university from the best side. We prepared for the power point presentation in advance. The conference lasted for four days. Every day was scheduled minute by minute. So, during each day students worked hard, discussing all the problems and the issues, concerning Erasmus organization, in the evening the entertaining program was organized for us (night club, skating ring, paintball and other entertainments).
From the first day we realized what Erasmus Student's Network was. It's not only young people who are engaged in helping other students to study abroad, but it is also a very solid group, very responsible, amicable and clever people. No doubts, as students they are very capable, too J.
All three days passed in such atmosphere of friendliness and unity. It was especially hard for us, as the first report was ours. In the report we told about our university, about its structure, faculties, how the work with foreign students is carried out, how we help them. Undoubtedly, our students are also friendly and helpful. In the report we have presented the most interesting and necessary information, but also questions after the report were not less interesting. In particular, we were asked questions of such character: who supports our ESN-section, with what universities co-operates our university (or is ready to co-operate), what foreign students study at our university, whether we are ready to propagandize ESN at other universities and in other cities. We have answered all the questions, though there are still many issues, which demand careful judgment and work.
To listen to reports of other students was extremely interesting and informative, for two reasons. The first is one that our university has yet to learn something, if it wants to enter this organization. The second is that on an example of others we as ESN-section will learn to function efficiently.
